Main Article Content
Abstract
Social progress, as a philosophical concept, refers to all processes involving movement from a lower to a higher level, toward greater qualitative perfection. It is a developmental trend characterized by the transition from lower to higher stages, from the less complete to the more complete. Social progress is always situated in relation to social regression. In many cases, the terms social progress and social development are used interchangeably. Social progress is also a fundamental criterion reflecting the quality of national development, which is not confined to economic indicators but also encompasses democracy, freedom, justice, human rights, social welfare, and environmental protection.
